Where is the You in Your Fundraising pitch?

  • 7 Apr, 2023

As fund raisers, we have the facts and figures of our organisation at the tip of our tongue. At times, it feels that you are serving canned message to your clients again and again. And, though we may think that the client doesn’t feel the difference, I am sure they do…..

No Michelin starred restaurants serve canned food and if we wish to be on the top of our game, we should stop serving canned presentations. So the question is how do we create a pitch that moves the client to action and is customized so that it feels fresh each time.

Some quick tips to spice up your pitch

  1. Start your fund raising pitch with your story – why and how you got involved in this cause. The silver lining is that if you could put up a strong case, it might help them make their decisions faster.
  2. Why and how you got involved in the social sector, what lead you to make the career decisions. Many corporate professionals are curious about the off-beat career choices that we have made. This might add zing to your pitch too.
  3. Share them your experiences working with your charity. Include the pics and the video of yours (preferably short videos with you in the frame) on the field and narrate the first hand experience. It could be the story of the child whom you are holding in your hand and have shown the pic in the presentation. And, share the story of the child and the mutual story of change yours and the babies.

Anyways these are some of the ways you could add the missing YOU in YOUR Pitch! Do share your experiences….
