Scattered Clouds Do Not Rain

Our ancestors have known it for a long time, they could see the clouds and would predict whether it would rain or not. Though the interpretations of cloud would vary from region to region but there is one thing common, scattered clouds do not bring rain.

In non profits, we often see discontinuity between goals, activities and efforts. It is like making a centimetre (an inch if it’s more familiar to you) progress in 10 different directions rather than a kilometre (likewise a mile) progress in one direction. Many leaders feel that in this difficult times we cannot bank on one idea. What if it fails?

True these are troubling times and we cannot be sure anything. But, What is more important than the activities we take is the underlying vision of how we see ourselves 5-10 years down the line. Difficult times call for leadership who can look beyond the veil of uncertainty to set the course for the organisation. And, the course does not need to be to just survive but to thrive. So in difficult times, we need to think again what is the impact that as non-profit we wish to make.

And, why I say one course, what can’t it be multiple! Think about the car you wish to buy, the mobile you wish to get, there is one name right. There could be other too but it’s the second best.
